On March 12, 2034, US Navy Commodore Sarah Hunt is on the bridge of her flagship, the guided missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones, conducting a routine freedom of navigation patrol in the South China Sea when her ship detects an unflagged trawler in clear distress, smoke billowing from its bridge. On that same day, US Marine aviator Major Chris “Wedge” Mitchell is flying an F35E Lightning over the Strait of Hormuz, testing a new stealth technology as he flirts with Iranian airspace. By the end of that day, Wedge will be an Iranian prisoner, and Sarah Hunt’s destroyer will lie at the bottom of the sea, sunk by the Chinese Navy. Iran and China have clearly coordinated their moves, which involve the use of powerful new forms of cyber weaponry that render US ships and planes defenseless. In a single day, America’s faith in its military’s strategic pre-eminence is in tatters. A new, terrifying era is at hand.

“Speculative,” indeed. More like woke wishful thinking!

Oh come on relax. It is a fiction novel. We all know the USA will win in the end. All novels like this always end the same. Yet thinking that the states is invincible makes me think about Rome. They thought the same thing. Just enjoy. Ty for uploading.

Yeah, this USN Admiral (ret.) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_G._Stavridis), one of the authors—who now is an operating executive for Carlyle Group—is definitely part of the woke mob! Nothing says counterculture like USN Admiral and executive for a multi-national capital group.

Interesting that there seems to be a book like this about every 20 to 30 years. There was a similar book back in the 1980s titled “The Third World War” (I think) by a British general.Going back even to pre-world war one, there was something about the Kaiser invading England. I want the Kaiser to invade us NOW with those funky spiked helmets.

Here’s the book I’m talking about:
“Third World War: The Untold Story by John Hackett (1982-09-26)”
April 7th, 2021
@CAG I’ve read the Hackett one and I didn’t think it was particularly good.
Also, one every 20 or 30 years is a bit of an underestimate.

MB4 by chance? Sounds interesting.

To think our military is so unbeatable that NO ONE can attack us is the same bs thinking that lead to 9/11. It’s already been proven that using short range radar, it isn’t that far fetched to not only track but fire in an F35, hard yes, impossible? No. Now, to think our naval ships are “unsinkable” is equally ridiculous. Just look at the British royal naval during the Falkland wars. Sure, our ships are much more advanced, but so are antiship missles, which are very vulnerable in the South China Sea
