Scandal escalates to murder as Dostoevsky traces the surprising effect of this “positively beautiful man” on the people around him, leading to a final scene that is one of the most powerful in all of world literature.

The production is fine, but this actor keeps pronouncing all the names with an extremely annoying emphasis and accent. He also has a very raspy voice, which is pleasant, but he turns it more serious and raspy when doing the characters, and I have never heard two men in their mid to late twenties speak as if they were 60 or 70…
Finally, after all those “NA-Sta-syA Fi-li-po-vnA” I had to give up this version around the 175th minute…
